Kindling a romantic relationship by any means necessary is important, even when our significant others are far. Texting is a faster alternative than letters to say something to your mate, ranging from a casual greeting, making a date appointment, to naughty messages to keep the passion flaming. Still, in the world of romantic texting, there are some do’s and dont’s that are important to make the relationship runs well.
1. Do not guess
If the message you receive is vague, wait until you meet face to face or call the sender directly. Guessing a vague message could possibly lead to misunderstanding, since you probably have different misinterpretation over the message from the sender.
2. Text sweet nothing once in a while
Even in the middle of hectic daily schedules, sending sweet nothings like “I miss you,” “can’t stop thinking about you,” or even just “hi, cutie” can be a sweet reminder for your loved one and bring small happiness.
3. Avoid texting angrily
When you are very angry, avoid squeezing all your anger into limited characters. Talking over the problems face to face is better than texting, and could avoid possible bigger mess.
4. Respond as soon as possible
Most people keep their cellphones close, so if your response over a text message is slow, they probably think that you are ignoring them. According to AT&T survey, one of the main texting turn-offs is slow response. If you do not have time to answer immediately, just reply with something like, “sorry, stuck in the meeting. Will hit you soon,” or “sorry, just got this” when you finally text him or her back.
5. Do not be rude or break bad news
Never choosing a text message to announce that you are breaking up with your lover, or hurling nasty words over an argument via texting. It is not classy, and in this hyper-connected culture, bad reputation spreads fast.
